There is a report that single women in the United States are in very difficult situation to get married. In fact, the number of single women in 1970 was 30 million, but now it has increased almost twice as much 55 million of people. (2005)
Why these unmarried women have increased this much?

Moreover, female have higher percentage of students pursuing higher education. So, it has become extremely tough situation for women to find intelligent men.
It has said that there has never been such tough time for women in the United States. This trend in US has something to do with it in Japan.
In 1970, the numbers of unmarried women were 180 million who 25 to 49 years old are, but in 2005, it has increased approximately three times and it has become 560 million people.
One of the reasons that unmarried women have increased is that meddlesome old neighbor woman and relatives have disappeared who used to introduce for prospective marriage partner though the eligible single people does not say anything.
Without being married, the traditional gender gap in employment and wages are not that big compared to old days. So, there are not a few people who think it much easier to stay with their parents in the sort of current situation.
