These days everybody knows that obesity is the cause of many adult diseases, but the fact that abnormal eating habits are closely connected with stress is surprisingly obscure. A good example is Elvis Presley who died very young, in his early 40s, of obesity caused by doughnuts.

According to the testimony of one of Presleys assistants, Elvis almost never had a normal meal, but always had a heap of doughnuts next to him, and whenever the doughnuts were finished, even in the middle of the night, he would send his driver to buy some. He weighed more than a hundreds kilos before his death. There is specious anecdote that his body would not fit into the coffin. The anecdote is probably created by irresponsible Hollywood gossipers, but it is a proven fact that he adored doughnuts to the extent that he would not have anything else and that he suffered from overweight that he could not loose.

The most interesting matter here is why he had developed such a devotion to sweets and junk food. The answer is but stress, the desire to cure frustration by indulging yourself with pleasurable little things. One feels frustrated when the goals one sets for oneself are too complicated or can not be fulfilled, and sweets here play the part of a consolation prize. This habit is ridiculous and tragic at the same time.

Presleys habit shows us an obvious example of abnormal eating habits, but Japanese people have their own, unfortunately less obvious habits. One of them is fast eating.

In the times of stress people easily pick up bad eating habits, sometimes unintentionally, sometimes realizing that it is not healthy, and in ten or twenty years a little habit can bring you to obesity and even sudden death of heart attack. It is extremely important to be conscious of your body condition, and take steps to prevent or release stress before its results emerge in some form or another.

If you are a captive of bad habits, such as excessive smoking, fast eating, etc., try to look for signs of stress and frustration within your heart and mind. It is the first step in stress prevention.

Here are a few questions that will help you understand your body. Mark the ones that match your personal habits.

-???????? I always eat fast

-???????? I never have breakfast

-???????? I never have breakfast, but every morning buy a drink at the station

-???????? I eat irregularly

-???????? Once in a while I overeat

-???????? I always feel like having some sweets after the meal

-???????? I have a habit of checking my fridge after 10 p.m.

-???????? I usually go to get some snacks or juice at night

-???????? My diet is unbalanced

-???????? I eat before going to bed

?If you marked at least two of them, you must reconsider your eating habits, as well as your emotional condition.
